Government's high taxing and high spending approach continues

West Australians are not benefitting from the windfall revenue gains being swallowed by the Cook Labor Government’s massive expense growth and out-of-touch priorities.
The Mid-Year Review confirms what families already know: This Government shows no ambition to cut back or reform, choosing instead to entrench a high-tax, high-spend approach that leaves households worse off.
Despite a $2.5 billion surplus, Labor is splurging while families battle rising costs, strained hospitals, and a housing crisis. This surplus isn’t the result of smart reform—it’s pure luck: high commodity prices and soaring taxes.
Over the next four years, taxes will climb by $3.2 billion, including an extra $830 million in stamp duty this year alone.
West Australians deserve better and I will continue holding this Government to account for its massive spending and failure to ease the tax burden.
