WA Shadow Treasurer Sandra Brewer has delivered a scathing assessment of the Cook government’s housing policies, and criticised stamp duty relief as inadequate.

Highlighting the decline in housing development as the root of the crisis, Ms Brewer said the state had completed only 107,000 dwelling units in the past eight years, compared to 153,000 units in the previous eight-year period.

She said problems with supply had been compounded by record infrastructure spending causing workforce shortages for the residential building industry.
